It does good lunch and evening deals during the week, and the weekend is topped off with a British roast. The eel was much better though, deliciously creamy inside with a palatable shiso tartar dipping sauce. I was thinking it could be interesting. As a whole, the sushi came in generous mouthfuls, the rice sticky, firm and held together well and again, the fish was importantly fresh. . Click for our full bar review of O Cacti. The tuna fared better, tasty tuna if a bit stingy at two tiny pieces each and texturally a big improvement with the fresh cucumber, asparagus and the crispy wonton bits.

Review: The Scene Dubai at Pier 7

Pier 7 dubai

Cargo is a cool, relaxed wine bar with a 1960s Hong Kong theme. The restaurant itself feels vast in size, styled in bare and industrial tones, with plenty of exposed fittings, concrete walls and even construction-like stickers in hazard-warning white and red stripes. Which has gone out of its way to give British staples pride of place. Fifth floor, Pier 7, next to Marina Mall 04 432 5772. The only mild disappointment was the prawn dishes. Course three was the Tempura Anago eel and Escargot. All the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Seventh floor, Pier 7, next to Marina Mall, 04 450 7766. Love the honesty in this review! The other diners on the table seemed to enjoy it though. Despite the high pricing, it offers great vistas over the Marina and some delicious food. Given that my expectations weren't massively high in the first place I was pleasantly surprised. The textures were lovely, but that was it. The next plate that rocked up was the Aburi Sushi — Aburi simply means that the fish is partially grilled on the topside and raw underneath. Good food and a nice atmosphere make this a great place to eat out.

The food at Fumé displays an utterly American sense of Southern, smoked and soul food, alongside intermittent touches of Latin or Asian fusion. Fourth floor, Pier 7, next to Marina Mall, 04 422 2328. We probably gave it away at the beginning of this, but the food at The Scene is good. We ended the tasting menu with the Azuki Bean Ice Cream. Chicken, fish and especially the Shepherd's Pie were delicious.

It's party time in Dubai

Pier 7 dubai

So we decided to have party and have lot of fun. Sixth floor, Pier 7, Dubai Maria, 04 276 5900. High rustic wooden tables and comfortable chairs allow guests to pass their evening in stylish comfort, while enjoying their choice from a large menu of beverages complemented by Asian food. The ceviche was the first dish we tried and was a great example of the classic Peruvian dish; crunchy elements present, the right amount of acidity and heat, it was a great dish to whet the appetite for what was yet to come. It feels understated, edgy and modern, the space flanked by a few kitchen counters, where diners can chose to sit at the bar.

Review: The Scene Dubai at Pier 7

Pier 7 dubai

While the place is spacious, it feels dim, smells smoky and despite being a new venue, already looks dated, dusty and actually like a very old-fashioned approximation of a Hispanic eatery. Click for our full restaurant review of O Cacti. Tables are chipped, cupboards are falling off their hinges in the bathroom — it just seems to have lost its sheen ever so slightly. The short rib was bloody fabulous. See more pictures of Asia Asia. As such, uniquely, the restaurant even advertises that it is closed from 4pm-6pm daily to engage in a little in-house smoking.
